Rent Control For All Tenants

2024 marked a year of active collaborations between HPTA, MPP Bhutila Karpoche, and other renters’ associations in the fight for rent control and affordable housing.

While HPTA member buildings are rent-controlled, we stand in solidarity with renters across the province to uphold the fundamental human right to affordable housing. Despite our contributions to organizing efforts and advocacy, the House voted on Bill 48 last December 12th, and, unfortunately (though not unexpectedly), it was defeated by the Conservatives.
