Rent Increases: Check the Math
This is a reminder to check the math used by management companies when you receive your notice of rent increase. Some of the recent notices sent by Minto have been found to calculate the increase incorrectly. The guideline rent increase for 2020 is 2.2%

Example Calculation
If your rent in 2019 was $2,000 and you receive a notice for the guideline increase, then your rent starting in your renewal period in 2020 would be $2,044.00.
To get this amount for yourself, take your final 2019 rent amount and multiply it by 1.022.
i.e. $2,000 x 1.022 = $2,044.00
