Some Minto tenants are complaining that their apartments are cold.

Two buildings in the High Park Village Minto Complex (65 High Park, 95 High Park, Townhouses on Pacific) had their hot water and heat system repaired this week-end. This was appreciated by the tenants concerned.

At 111 Pacific, however, some tenants are registering 18 or 19 degrees Celsius in their bedrooms, bathrooms or living rooms. The temperature varies during the day and in various places in the apartments.

According to By-Law 499-2000, chapter 497-2 – A landlord shall provide to a dwelling unit that is rented or leased and that is normally heated at the landlord’s expense so that a minimum air temperature of 21 degrees Celsius is maintained in all areas of the dwelling unit from the 15th day of September in each year of the 1st day of June in the following year.

The HPTA is encouraging tenants to address their complaints to Minto, at the Residents Service Centre.  If afterwards their apartments are not brought to the By-Law temperature level in all areas, they can contact the City at 311 or the Investigation and Enforcement Unit of the Ontario Municipal Affairs and Housing at (416) 585-7214. An inspector will be dispatched or/and Minto will be contacted for temperature adjustments.
