High Park Tenants’ Association
is distributing this notice on behalf of the
High Park Community Alliance.
This is a timely and important request from the HPCA to all our HPTA members. We urge you to make every attempt to attend these important meetings.
7 new towers could double the density near High Park
As you know Minto, the developer behind one of the two infill tower proposals, will present its plans to the community on Monday May 8th, 7pm.
Location is Lithuania House, 1573 Bloor St West (just east of Keele).
Emotions are running high with deep concerns about the impact this and a second proposal by GWL, will have on our neighbourhood.
Please remember the following:
These are proposals, they are not final plans. The City’s Planners are still assessing them and the community by its involvement will have a role in demanding changes. City Council will then decide what is acceptable.
This meeting is your chance to question the applicant about the proposal and to bring ideas for changes to the table. It is an opportunity to voice your concerns to the developer, our City Councillor and the City Planner assigned to the matter.
A meaningful dialogue will only occur if we prepared to be respectful and listen to the presentations of the developer and the City planner.
Please come prepared to make a donation to the HPCA campaign. It is important that we raise funds to support our opposition to both applications. We have to retain an urban designer and planner to translate your ideas into professional submissions to the City. “Say No to Double Density / Keep High Park Green” T-shirts will be on sale for $10 – they will speak loudly for you at the meetings even if you don’t!
Please remember the equally important second application will be presented to the public by Great West Life (Vertica) on Thursday , May 18 at 7:00 pm and it is critical we have as many people as possible at this meeting to demonstrate the concerns of our community.
