Update: Minto High Park Village Redevelopment Proposal

Last Friday evening, we were informed by Minto that it had unexpectedly submitted a “preliminary” Development Application to the City of Toronto on December 21, 2016.

The application is much in keeping with the plans revealed at Minto’s Open House meetings, but is much more specific. The proposed development will increase the number of units from 750 to 1,459 and the gross building area from 54,392 m2 to 113,102 m2 through the addition of a 33-storey tower, a 29-storey tower, an 8-storey tower with incorporated townhouse units, and 20 freestanding townhouse units (14 on Glenlake and 6 on Pacific).
You can view Minto’s Application at:

We have sent a letter to Ward 13 Councillor Doucette asking when a Community Information Meeting will be scheduled and when the notice of the meeting can be expected to be mailed to affected residents. We have also requested that the notice area for affected be extended beyond the 120 meters required under the Planning Act because of the major impact the proposed development will have on the neighbourhood. In addition, we have requested the Councillor to advise us whether the submission of the” preliminary” Application to the City will actually start the 120-day period mandated by the Planning Act, after which, if the City has been unable to complete its review of the project, the Applicant may appeal directly to the Ontario Municipal Board for a decision.
